Getting around Bosnia and Herzegovina by bus

Travelling by bus is one of the practical ways to move between Bosnia and Herzegovina's cities and towns. Sarajevo connects with destinations such as Mostar, Banja Luka and Tuzla, while international buses provide links toward neighbouring Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro.

But bus travel in Bosnia is not quite as simple as choosing two city names. Different companies operate different journeys. Sarajevo has separate intercity departure terminals, and Mostar also has more than one bus station. The departure point printed on your ticket can determine how you plan the first part of your journey.

Ticket rules require attention too. Some booking channels support electronic boarding documents, while individual operators or departures may require a printed ticket. Luggage handling and possible additional fees also depend on the service.

Bus companies, stations and ticket rules differ. Compare the details of your own journey before choosing a departure.

01

Start at the right station

Identify your actual departure terminal before arranging transport from your accommodation.

02

Compare the whole journey

Look beyond the headline fare. Boarding location, journey duration and ticket conditions can matter just as much.

03

Understand your ticket

Read the booking confirmation to identify whether mobile presentation is accepted or a printed document is required.

04

Plan border journeys sensibly

International buses may be delayed by border procedures. Leave time between separate travel bookings.

Sarajevo–Mostar · main intercity route

Sarajevo to Mostar by bus: tickets, stations and journey time

The journey from Sarajevo takes travellers south through Bosnia's mountainous interior toward the Neretva Valley and Herzegovina. It is one of the country's most useful intercity routes, particularly for visitors moving between Sarajevo's historic centre and Mostar's old town.

Several bus companies offer journeys along this corridor. The timetable, ticket price, arrival station and conditions can differ, so choosing the best departure involves more than selecting the first available bus. There is also a railway connection: when the train times suit your plans, compare rail with the bus before travelling.

Route details vary by date and operator

How long is the bus journey?

Several Sarajevo–Mostar departures are scheduled to take about 2 hours 25 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes. The timetable for your service determines the planned duration; road conditions and the route can affect the actual arrival.

When comparing options, use the duration attached to the particular departure you are considering. Leave a sensible connection margin if you have a separate onward booking, especially on international travel days.

Which bus station in Sarajevo?

Sarajevo Central and Autobuska stanica Istočno Sarajevo are separate terminals. Some tickets say “Sarajevo Central”; others depart from East Sarajevo in Lukavica. The city name alone does not identify your departure point.

Your ticket names the departure terminal. Sarajevo Central is at Put života 8, while East Sarajevo is in Lukavica; travellers staying near Baščaršija need a separate cross-city transfer to either one.

The two terminals are not interchangeable: follow the full station name on your ticket.

Where do buses arrive in Mostar?

Mostar East, at Trg Ivana Krndelja 4, is beside the railway station; Mostar West is on Vukovarska. Some ticket listings show only “Mostar”. Use the terminal named on your ticket, since Sarajevo services do not all arrive at the same station.

One Globtour service is listed from Sarajevo Central to Mostar East. This is one listed service; other operators may use a different terminal.

Bus operators on the route

Listings for the route have included Autoprevoz Mostar, Globtour, Globtour Međugorje, Globus Turist and Prevoz Putnika Zavidovići. These are ticket listings, not a national timetable, and the operators and terms shown depend on the travel date.

Station, duration and document fields are service-specific. The “listed example” entries are not promises of a current departure.

Ticket prices and what they include

Prices can vary with operator, travel date, booking channel and ticket conditions. Bosnia and Herzegovina's currency is the convertible mark, written BAM or KM. Booking platforms may display another currency and may add a service fee or other charge at checkout.

Rather than treating a fare seen on one date as a national route price, compare the total displayed for your own date and passenger count. Confirm whether the booking includes station charges, luggage allowances and the ticket format you need before paying.

Will a mobile ticket work?

A booking confirmation may differ from the document required to board.

On 28 September 2026, a passenger reviewing an Autoprevoz Mostar journey from Sarajevo Central reported that the operator required a printed ticket and did not accept the document displayed on the passenger's phone.

That describes one passenger’s experience, not a rule for every trip with this company.

Before departure, read the instructions attached to your specific ticket. If printing is required, arrange it before reaching the bus rather than assuming a QR code will be sufficient.

A passenger review on the Sarajevo–Mostar booking page says one Autoprevoz departure required a printed ticket. This is one customer’s account, not an operator-wide rule.

Luggage and additional charges

Separate the small bag you keep with you from larger baggage placed in the coach's luggage compartment. The permitted number, size and any handling fee can depend on the operator and ticket terms. The information available for the route does not establish one universal luggage charge, so exact amounts should be confirmed in the booking details or directly with the carrier.

Luggage allowances, tags and handling fees depend on the operator. Keep travel documents and valuables with you in the coach.

What the road journey is like

The road south from Sarajevo passes through the mountainous interior toward Konjic and Jablanica before following the Neretva corridor toward Mostar. The river rises in the Dinaric Alps and flows through towns including Konjic, Jablanica and Mostar before continuing toward the Adriatic. The landscape changes from higher, enclosed valleys to the warmer Herzegovinian setting around Mostar.

This is a geographic description of the corridor, not a promise that a particular seat or departure will provide uninterrupted views. Bus itineraries may differ, and scheduled journeys should not be treated as sightseeing tours or assumed to include stops.

How to choose your departure

  • Confirm the exact Sarajevo departure terminal printed on your ticket.
  • Read the Mostar arrival stop on the ticket; it may be East, West or another named location.
  • Compare the departure time and scheduled duration for the selected service.
  • Read whether your boarding document must be printed or can be shown on a phone.
  • Luggage terms and any documented charges depend on the operator.
  • Compare the total price at checkout, including any displayed fees.
Choose the timetable that fits

Sarajevo to Mostar: bus or train?

For Sarajevo–Mostar, the bus is not the only transport option worth considering. Buses offer a choice of departures from different operators, which may be useful if you are coordinating accommodation or onward travel.

The railway follows a different timetable and provides another way to experience the journey through Bosnia and Herzegovina's mountainous landscape. Rail services on the Sarajevo–Mostar corridor resumed on 15 October 2026 after a temporary safety suspension. Compare the current ŽFBH timetable with bus departures for your travel date.

The better option depends on departure time, station, fare and your onward plans. Compare the bus and train times for your date; neither is always faster or cheaper.

Sarajevo to Dubrovnik by bus: times, stations and the border

A bus from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik connects Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital with Croatia's southern Adriatic coast. The journey combines an intercity trip through Bosnia with an international border crossing, so the most useful information is not simply the departure time or ticket price.

Before booking, identify the departure station in Sarajevo, the actual operating company and the terminal where you'll arrive in Dubrovnik. The scheduled journey time includes the operator's planned route, but border formalities and road conditions can affect the actual arrival time. For travellers staying near Dubrovnik's Old Town, there's another detail worth planning: intercity buses normally arrive at the main terminal in Gruž, not at the historic city gates.

Route details vary by date and operatorSchedules and availability vary by date

Bus times and fares

In its 10 July 2026 announcement, Centrotrans said the Sarajevo–Dubrovnik service runs daily year-round. The example in that notice left at 07:15 and arrived at 13:40 after 6 hours 25 minutes; the listed one-way fare was 86 KM. These are operator examples, not a live quote, so the selected date and fare belong to the current booking result.

Dated ticket listings have shown Globtour and Globtour Međugorje departures around 10:00. One example places Globtour at 10:00–15:50, while entries under the Međugorje name show different arrivals. Similar departure times can represent one coach sold under different brands. An older result also named Trans Turist Tuzla at 02:00; that single listing does not establish a daily service. The carrier and boarding details on the selected ticket identify the trip.

Timetable examples are snapshots, not a promise of service on a future date. Centrotrans data is from its July 2026 announcement and route page. Ticket listings can vary by travel date and may duplicate marketed departures.

Find the correct Sarajevo departure station

The Sarajevo Central terminal is Autobuska stanica Sarajevo, at Put života 8. The Canton Sarajevo authority lists this address and Centrotrans's official contact page gives the station information number as +387 33 213 100. Some ticket systems use a separate East Sarajevo stop, at Srpskih vladara 2, 71123 Lukavica. These terminals are in different parts of the wider Sarajevo area; a ticket that says “Sarajevo” should be opened to confirm its exact station label and map pin.

Do not infer the departure terminal from the operator name alone. Use the boarding location printed on the final ticket and ask the operator if the ticket only says “Sarajevo.” The East Sarajevo station information number listed by Visit Sarajevo is +387 57 317 377. No authoritative source gives a fixed transfer time between these terminals. Plan from the full street address rather than assuming they are within walking distance.

At the terminal, match the operator and route to the departure board and ticket. Platform assignments can change, so follow the latest station instructions.

Arriving in Dubrovnik's Gruž district

The main intercity terminal is Dubrovnik Bus Station, at Obala pape Ivana Pavla II 44A in Gruž. Gruž is a working port and transport area; the station is not inside the walled Old Town. If your accommodation is near the historic centre, plan a separate local transfer after arrival rather than expecting the coach to drop you at the city gates.

Libertas Dubrovnik operates local public transport. Use its live timetable to choose a bus for your destination, or ask station staff for help. Taxis are another option from the terminal; agree the fare with the driver before departure. Leave a buffer when connecting to a separately booked service.

The station lists opening hours of 06:30–22:00, with breaks at 09:00–09:30 and 16:00–16:30. Luggage storage is listed for 06:30–22:00 at €1 per started hour, with a maximum guaranteed value of €66.36. Ask the station about storage outside those hours or items subject to special conditions.

When choosing a hotel, compare its location with the Gruž terminal and your onward transport plan. For an onward intercity or airport connection, confirm the departure point and leave time to retrieve luggage and reach the correct platform.

Dubrovnik Bus Station: official contact and luggage details

What to expect on the journey

The Centrotrans timetable describes a direct Sarajevo–Dubrovnik service. Other departures may use a different carrier or include a change of bus; the selected ticket shows the itinerary. No standard rest stop is promised, so bring food, medication and other essentials for the scheduled journey.

The scheduled arrival is a timetable calculation, not a promise of arrival at the station. Traffic, road conditions and passport control can extend the trip. Keep the final Dubrovnik station name with your booking and leave a buffer before a separate flight, ferry or non-refundable activity. A late bus can affect plans even when the scheduled duration looks suitable.

The selected carrier sets phone-ticket and baggage rules. Save the issued ticket offline and follow its printing, exchange and luggage instructions; a confirmation email may not be valid for boarding.

Mostar to Dubrovnik by bus: times, stations and border travel

Mostar and Dubrovnik are popular stops on the same Balkan itinerary, but the journey between them is an international bus trip rather than a short local transfer. Buses cross from Bosnia and Herzegovina into Croatia before reaching Dubrovnik's main terminal. Exact journey time depends on the scheduled route, intermediate stops and border conditions.

Mostar has two important bus stations, so establish whether your departure is from Mostar East or Mostar West before heading to the terminal. Use the ticket's full boarding label; the city name on a search result is not enough to choose a station.

Operators and timetable examples

Dated listings have included Globtour, Globtour Međugorje and a 10:15 service sold under Centrotrans Eurolines BiH and Autotrans by Arriva. Examples included 07:00 departures, a Centrotrans 10:15–13:40 trip and several 12:30 listings. One 12:30–15:50 result is scheduled for 3 hours 20 minutes; other listings show different arrivals for the same departure time. Similar listings may represent overlapping sales channels, and none establishes daily operation.

Two brands appearing at the same time and with the same arrival may represent one physical coach marketed through different channels. Do not count them as separate vehicles without confirmation from the operator. Price examples are date and currency dependent, so we omit them here rather than presenting a transient checkout amount as a stable fare.

Mostar–Dubrovnik departures

Which Mostar bus station should you use?

Mostar East and Mostar West are separate terminals. Some tickets list Mostar East, and Globtour lists departures from the East terminal; this does not establish that every Mostar–Dubrovnik bus leaves there. Use the station printed on the ticket.

Mostar East's local name is Autobuska stanica Mostar Istok, with the address commonly documented as Trg Ivana Krndelja 4 or Trg Ivana Krndelja bb, beside the railway-station area. Mostar West is Autobusni kolodvor Mostar Zapad, at Vukovarska bb. Names and address format can differ between listings; use the ticket's station label and the map link in the station helper.

If a booking says only “Mostar,” open the booking detail or contact the seller before travelling to the terminal. Do not assume that a bus uses the station nearest your hotel, the railway station or the Old Bridge. Check the final confirmation after any schedule or operator change.

Boarding documents and baggage

A booking confirmation, an issued ticket and a boarding pass can be different documents. Open the confirmation attachment and look for a barcode or ticket number, the operator's boarding instructions, whether the document must be printed, and whether a ticket-office exchange is required. A mobile confirmation is useful to keep, but do not assume it is accepted as the boarding document unless the selected fare says so.

Printing requirements differ by operator and booking platform. If the booking page says to print or exchange a voucher, follow that instruction; if it is unclear, ask the seller or operator before departure. Keep the ticket available without network access and bring the identification used for the booking.

Hand luggage and hold-luggage allowances and charges depend on the fare and operator. No single fee applies to every Mostar–Dubrovnik departure. The selected ticket sets the baggage terms. Keep any receipt issued at the terminal.

Dated listings on the same booking platform range from roughly three hours to over four hours as scheduled. That variation reflects different listed services and itineraries; it does not include unpredictable border waiting. Do not plan a tight onward connection using the shortest schedule shown.

Arrival and the next leg in Dubrovnik

Mostar–Dubrovnik services shown on the route listing arrive at Dubrovnik's main bus station in Gruž. The address is Obala pape Ivana Pavla II 44A. Gruž is not the Old Town, so choose a local bus or taxi for the final leg based on where your accommodation is located. Check the current Libertas Dubrovnik service information on arrival.

The station publishes luggage storage at €1 per started hour during its listed 06:30–22:00 opening period. Its contact page also publishes station hours and telephone details. If you have a ferry, flight or separate coach after arrival, allow a practical buffer for border processing and for moving between the Gruž terminal and that departure point.

Border controls may require passengers to present documents outside the coach or wait while checks are completed. Drivers and border officials control the process; keep your travel document accessible and follow instructions promptly. Current queue conditions cannot be predicted from the timetable.

Departure and arrival stations

Registered line 2-1 identifies Sarajevo as the departure city; the associated current booking listings label Sarajevo Central. Sarajevo Central and the East Sarajevo terminal are separate locations. The ticket gives the departure station. For a comparison, use the Sarajevo station comparison if the listing only says “Sarajevo.”

Banja Luka’s intercity bus station is Autobuska stanica Banja Luka, Braće Podgornika 47, Banja Luka. The station publishes +387 51 922 000. Its official contact page confirms the address and contact; it does not document a guaranteed taxi fare or fixed walk to the centre. Registered route and journey time

The national road-transport registry records line 2-1 with Centrotrans, Autoprevoz and Autoprevoz GS as cooperating operators. One registry example leaves Sarajevo at 09:15 and arrives in Banja Luka at 14:10 (4 h 55 min), via Ilijaš, Visoko, Kakanj, Vitez, Travnik, Donji Vakuf, Jajce and Krupa na Vrbasu. A separate registered run is listed for 15:30–20:25. These are registry entries, not a promise of daily operation or bookable seats.

A dated booking search has also listed a Centrotrans 09:15–14:10 trip. Check your travel date for current availability; the route and stops can differ by carrier, and the registry’s stop list does not apply to every ticket.

Buses from Sarajevo to Split do not all follow one road itinerary. The service you choose can change the regions crossed, intermediate stops, border crossing and scheduled duration. Compare the operator and actual stops, not just the destination city.

Two distinct registered itineraries

The Bosnia and Herzegovina registry records two separate services. Line 28-HR-2 names Globtour Međugorje, Croatia Bus and FlixBus CEE South as partners; one registry timetable example lists a 06:00 departure and a 13:35 arrival in Split via Kiseljak, Busovača, Vitez, Travnik, Bugojno, Kupres and Livno (7 h 35 min; registry distance 312 km). Line 301-HR-2 records a 15:00–21:15 example (6 h 15 min; 303 km), without that same intermediate-stop sequence. A registered schedule does not confirm that seats are available for your travel date.

Dated searches have shown Sarajevo–Split departures matching the morning and afternoon registry examples. The selected ticket identifies the carrier and timetable; line 28’s intermediate stops do not apply to the separate 301 itinerary.

The company’s ticket point is at Mostar railway station, but that does not by itself identify the Line 48 bus bay. Use the stop shown by the current operator timetable and confirm the exact boarding point with Mostar Bus.

Tickets, zones and practical limits

Mostar Bus publishes a zone-based network and ticket information through its official timetable pages. The timetable does not publish a Line 48 fare or a payment rule. The railway-station sales point is listed by the operator; confirm whether a ticket can be bought at your boarding stop and which payment methods are accepted. The PDF does not state a luggage allowance, so do not apply an intercity carrier’s policy to this local bus.

Mostar East and Mostar West are separate intercity terminals; a local service’s “MOSTAR” timetable label should not be conflated with an intercity coach’s station assignment. Use the operator’s local stop guidance for Line 48. If its schedule does not fit, compare a separately listed coach or arrange a transfer; do not presume either will accept a Mostar Bus ticket.

Local Line 48 versus intercity coach listings

Globtour Međugorje has also appeared in searches for a Mostar–Međugorje coach. That is a separate intercity product, not Mostar Bus Line 48. The local service follows Mostar Bus’s timetable, and this section has no affiliate booking button.

For a return to Mostar, check the reverse-direction times in the same current Line 48 timetable and verify operating day. Do not assume a bus will be available after a pilgrimage visit or late event.

Sarajevo to Belgrade by bus: stations, operators and the border

Sarajevo–Belgrade services can leave from East Sarajevo rather than the central terminal. That changes the first leg from Baščaršija or the railway station. The coach crosses the Bosnia–Serbia border, so plan around the named departure and arrival stations as well as the scheduled journey time.

Sarajevo Central or East Sarajevo?

Some Sarajevo–Belgrade listings depart from Sarajevo East / Istočno Sarajevo in Lukavica; others show Sarajevo Central at Put života 8. The stations are in different locations. Open the selected result and match its full station name and map pin. The station directory explains the difference.

To reach East Sarajevo, allow for a separate city transfer. Local transport options and traffic vary; check the route from your accommodation for your travel time and do not travel to the central terminal unless your ticket says Sarajevo Central.

Operators and timetable examples

Dated listings have shown Centrotrans a.d. Istočno Sarajevo and Kondor examples at 09:45–17:45 and 12:30–20:10, alongside listings for other operators and journey times. Separate route data names Transprodukt, Kondor, Centrotrans and Alamanis, but does not establish current departures for each. These times are examples, not a daily timetable; the selected result names its carrier and departure.

Some listings take around six and a half hours; others schedule a longer trip. Border processing, road conditions and the chosen route affect arrival time. Overnight departures arrive the next morning, so the ticket date and terminal matter.

Border documents, tickets and baggage

Entry rules depend on nationality, residence status and document type. Check the current Serbian entry requirements and the rules for returning to Bosnia and Herzegovina before travel. Keep the original travel document required for your case ready for inspection; a bus ticket does not grant entry permission. For country-specific entry rules, see the border information. Requirements depend on nationality, residence status and travel documents.

Ticket format and luggage charges vary by operator and booking channel. Follow the instructions on the issued ticket, including whether an online voucher must be exchanged or printed. Ask the carrier about checked baggage and any station charge before departure; luggage fees depend on the operator and ticket.

Arriving at Belgrade's current bus terminal

The booking result labels the Belgrade arrival as Belgrade New Bus Station. The former central terminal has been replaced by the New Belgrade station. Match the ticket to the current BAS address, then choose local transport for your arrival time.

Bosnia to Montenegro · seasonal service

Sarajevo to Kotor by bus: coastal route and border crossing

Travelling from Sarajevo to Kotor takes you from Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital toward Montenegro's Bay of Kotor. Regional roads and a border crossing make this longer than the map distance suggests. Season, direction, intermediate calls and the final town all matter: a service advertised for the Montenegrin coast may stop in Tivat or Budva without calling at Kotor.

A summer route along the coast

Centrotrans announced on 3 July 2026 that, from 5 July, a seasonal coastal service operated with Lalatović Travel. The daytime timetable listed Sarajevo at 07:00 and listed Mostar, Stolac, Trebinje, Herceg Novi, Kotor, Budva, Petrovac, Sutomore, Bar and Ulcinj, reaching Ulcinj at 17:10. The announcement also described a 19:00 night route via Trebinje and Tivat to Budva, Bar and Ulcinj; that night itinerary does not list Kotor. The notice describes the 2026 summer season; it does not establish an October or year-round schedule.

No direct Sarajevo–Kotor departure appeared for the date checked; another search showed connections with a stopover. A separate timetable record contains a 07:00–15:15 example, but does not establish a current service. Confirm a direct daytime departure with the carrier for your travel season.

Centrotrans seasonal announcement · Polazak date query · Buskarta route page

Departure station, border and Kotor arrival

Confirm whether a future service leaves Sarajevo Central or East Sarajevo from the ticket itself; the coastal announcement does not settle the boarding station for every departure. The international border between Bosnia and Montenegro requires documents appropriate to each passenger’s nationality and status. Consult current official entry rules before travel.

Kotor, Montenegro, is distinct from Kotor Varoš in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The listed Kotor Bus Station is in Škaljari, outside the Old Town walls; plan a local walk or separate transfer based on luggage, mobility and accommodation location. Verify the exact stop on your booking. Ticket print, exchange and baggage conditions belong to the selected operator and channel.

Mostar to Split by bus: tickets, times and the Croatian border

The journey from Mostar to Split connects Herzegovina with Croatia's Dalmatian coast. If you plan to continue to a Croatian island, the bus terminal location is nearly as important as its scheduled arrival. Split's intercity terminal sits beside the port and railway area, but a separate bus and ferry ticket does not guarantee a protected connection. Border delays can affect the onward leg.

Mostar East or Mostar West?

Mostar East and West are separate terminals. Ticket listings have included Globtour, Globtour Međugorje and Centrotrans, with one operator listing departures from Mostar East. That does not assign every departure to the same station. Read the full boarding label, including any town-centre stop, on your ticket.

A dated listing showed a 13:00 Mostar–Split departure scheduled for five hours; other departures showed different timings. These examples are not a fixed timetable. The selected result gives the operating day, carrier, station and itinerary.

Mostar–Split departures · Centrotrans timetable example · Mostar East and West station details

Border crossing, luggage and arrival in Split

Mostar–Split crosses from Bosnia and Herzegovina into Croatia. Carry the travel document that applies to your nationality and check current Croatian and Schengen entry rules. Ticket format, baggage allowance and any handling fee depend on the seller and operating carrier; read the final ticket and ask the operator when instructions are unclear.

Split's main bus terminal is by the ferry port and railway station. A passenger continuing to an island should check the ferry operator's boarding cutoff, terminal location and ticket conditions. Allow a margin that reflects your own risk tolerance and the consequences of a missed sailing: there is no universal safe connection time, and separate tickets are not protected as one itinerary. For an inflexible ferry, an overnight stay or a flexible ticket can reduce the impact of a late coach.

Bus to Split, then ferry

Check the scheduled bus arrival against the actual ferry departure and boarding cutoff. Add time for passport control and delays, and keep in mind that a bus ticket does not reserve or protect the ferry connection.

Sarajevo to Bihać by bus: routes, journey times and tickets

Bihać sits in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina, close to the Una River and within reach of Una National Park. From Sarajevo this is a long domestic journey. Compare the operator, journey time and arrival terminal before departure. A ticket to Bihać does not include local transport into Una National Park.

Departure, operators and journey time

Use the terminal printed on the selected ticket. Sarajevo Central and East Sarajevo are separate. Timetable searches have included Centrotrans and Semi Tours Antwerpen products on Sarajevo–Bihać, with sample trips of about 5 hours 32 minutes to 6 hours 45 minutes, including 07:30–14:10, 08:00–14:45 and 13:30–20:10. These are examples, not a daily schedule; the date-specific result names the current carrier and times.

Some listings do not show every intermediate stop. Check the stop pattern on your ticket rather than assuming a route. Longer journeys may arrive late; avoid a tight onward connection to a separate local transfer.

Redvoznje Sarajevo–Bihać timetable

Arriving in Bihać and continuing to Una National Park

Check whether the ticket names the central Bihać bus station or another stop. The town centre is separate from the intercity platform; plan the last leg to your accommodation after verifying the arrival pin. No direct scheduled coach from Sarajevo to an individual Una National Park attraction is listed here. Park sites, trailheads and accommodation areas are spread out, so arrange local transport with your lodging or an authorized provider and confirm seasonal access independently.

Book or verify the return journey before visiting remote areas. A local park transfer and an intercity coach ticket are separate arrangements. Baggage and print requirements depend on the selected operator and seller; check them on the issued ticket.

Mostar to Blagaj by bus: Lines 10 and 12 to the Buna spring

Blagaj is a popular excursion from Mostar, known for the Buna River spring and the historic Blagaj Tekke. Mostar Bus's local network serves the area, so identify the correct line and boarding stop instead of looking only for an intercity coach. Timetables differ by line and day; the summer Sunday service was a limited seasonal addition.

Line 10 and Line 12 serve different endpoints

The official Mostar Bus timetable lists Line 10, Sjeverni logor–Blagaj, and Line 12, Sjeverni logor–Blagaj–Malo Polje. The timetable PDF dated 14 September 2026 shows multiple working-day departures for Line 10, including examples from 06:45 to 22:00, and a separate Saturday schedule; some marked departures run jointly with Line 12. The operator states that its regular Line 10 service does not run on Sundays or public holidays. Do not treat the two lines’ timetables as interchangeable. Use the operator’s current PDF to confirm the exact direction, stop and day. The route listing does not make every departure from the central intercity bus terminal, so locate the Sjeverni logor / relevant city stop on the current map and confirm it with Mostar Bus before boarding.

Mostar Bus’s regular timetable marks this route as not operating on Sundays or public holidays. A separate Sunday service began on 21 June 2026 for three summer months, with Mostar departures at 09:45, 11:30, 15:30 and 18:00 and return trips at 10:15, 12:00, 16:00 and 18:30. The one-way fare was 1.80 KM. This seasonal service is not a year-round option.

Official Mostar Bus timetable · 14 September 2026 timetable PDF · Summer Sunday service notice

Tickets, return planning and the walk

The summer notice states 1.80 KM one way for its special Sunday service; it does not establish the fare for every Line 10 or Line 12 trip. Ask the driver or operator how to buy the applicable local ticket and whether cash or another method is accepted. Intercity luggage rules do not automatically apply to the city bus.

Blagaj Tekke and the Buna spring are in the village area. After leaving the bus, follow signed pedestrian access and check the exact stop and route on a map; the bus does not promise door-to-door service to every attraction. Before starting the visit, confirm the return departure and leave time for the walk back to the stop. A taxi may provide a more direct return, but confirm the price and pickup with the driver or licensed provider before travelling.

Lines 10 and 12 are local buses; use Mostar Bus’s timetable rather than an intercity booking service.

Sarajevo Airport to the City Centre and Bus Stations

Sarajevo Airport has a Centrotrans Airport–Bentbaša connection toward the city and Baščaršija. The fare is 5 KM one way. One bag up to 23 kg is included; a second bag or an item over the limit costs 5 KM. The airport lists separate weekday and weekend departure times.

Board at the signed airport bus stop and buy from the driver or through the supported CentroCard app, as described by the airport. This route does not mean the bus calls at Sarajevo Central Bus Station or East Sarajevo Bus Station. For either intercity terminal, plan a separate city transfer and allow time between tickets. If your flight is early or late, compare the operator’s service hours with arrival time and arrange another transfer if needed; no current taxi fare is quoted here.

Airport and city bus station are separate

Tuzla Airport Transfers: Getting to Tuzla and Onward to Sarajevo

Tuzla International Airport is at Gornje Dubrave, in Živinice municipality, outside Tuzla city. It is not Tuzla's central intercity bus station. The airport’s own ground-transport page lists taxis and car rental but no direct airport–Sarajevo bus. Separately, a Tuzla Tourist Board notice reported a local city–airport bus launched in June 2026; check its linked timetable with the city operator before relying on current service. That local connection is not part of a Sarajevo intercity ticket.

For Tuzla city or the bus station, arrange a taxi or private transfer and confirm the pickup point, fare, luggage arrangements and timing directly with the provider. From Tuzla's bus station, purchase a separate intercity ticket to Sarajevo. A Tuzla-bound coach booking does not include airport pickup. For an arrival that connects to a fixed departure, leave enough time for the airport transfer and any delay; if timing is tight, book the intercity leg only after reaching the city or choose a later service.

Mostar Airport to the City: Shuttle Bus and Transfer Options

Mostar Airport says J.P. Mostar Bus operates a commercial shuttle after arrivals from Zagreb, Belgrade, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart. It departs in front of the terminal immediately after the listed flights arrive; this is not a continuous bus every few minutes and should not be assumed to serve every flight. The fare is 10 KM.

The airport shuttle calls at Tekija, Lučki Bridge, Theatre, Bus and Train Station, Hotel Mepas, Hotel Mostar, Spanish Square, Croatian Home Herceg Stjepan Kosača, Rondo, Hotel Verso and Dom Dompes. The “Bus and Train Station” stop is in the city; Mostar East and West are separate intercity terminals, so use the map to locate the stop before connecting. If the shuttle timing does not suit your flight, ask the airport about other transfers. Intercity bus tickets do not include the airport leg.

Banja Luka Airport to the City and Main Bus Station

Banja Luka Airport names Smiljić Company as the shuttle operator between the airport, Banja Luka city centre and the new bus station. The one-way fare is 12 KM. Departures follow aircraft arrivals and departures, rather than a fixed hourly urban timetable. Check the flight schedule and contact the operator for the applicable departure and payment details before relying on it.

If you are continuing to Sarajevo or another city, confirm whether your intercity ticket leaves from the new bus station and allow a practical margin after landing. The shuttle is not included with an intercity ticket or flight fare. Arrange any taxi or private transfer separately and confirm the fare with the provider.

Three itineraries through Bosnia and the Adriatic

These are planning frameworks, not tours or live timetables. Confirm each leg on the day you plan to travel and leave room for separate tickets.

Three days: Sarajevo and Mostar

  1. Day 1 · Sarajevo. Arrive and explore the old town. If flying in, compare the airport transfer with your accommodation location. Overnight in Sarajevo.
  2. Day 2 · Sarajevo to Mostar. Compare an operating intercity bus with the train timetable for your date. Check the exact Sarajevo departure terminal and Mostar arrival station before choosing. Spend the afternoon in Mostar; overnight there. See the Sarajevo–Mostar route details.
  3. Day 3 · Mostar and onward. Explore Mostar or visit Blagaj if the local bus schedule fits your day and return plan. Confirm the Line 10/12 timetable before leaving. Keep a margin for any separate onward ticket.

Five days: Sarajevo, Mostar and Herzegovina

  1. Day 1 · Sarajevo arrival. Use the airport transfer details if arriving by air; overnight in Sarajevo.
  2. Day 2 · Sarajevo. Explore the city and verify the next day's station and departure time.
  3. Day 3 · Sarajevo to Mostar. Travel by bus or a currently operating train. Check the route details and stay overnight in Mostar.
  4. Day 4 · Blagaj or Mostar. Use local Line 10 or 12 only after confirming the timetable for the weekday. Sunday buses may be seasonal. Return to Mostar and overnight there.
  5. Day 5 · Međugorje or onward. Choose an operating Line 48 local journey, a separately booked intercity service or another onward route toward Dubrovnik. They are different services; verify return feasibility before making a day trip. See Međugorje transport notes and Dubrovnik route details.

Seven days: Bosnia and the Adriatic

  1. Day 1 · Sarajevo. Arrive, transfer to the city and overnight in Sarajevo.
  2. Day 2 · Sarajevo. Explore locally and confirm the correct terminal for the next leg.
  3. Day 3 · Sarajevo to Mostar. Choose a bus or operating train after checking the date and stations. Overnight in Mostar.
  4. Day 4 · Mostar and Blagaj. Visit Blagaj only if the local bus schedule allows a return; otherwise stay in Mostar. Overnight there.
  5. Day 5 · Mostar to Dubrovnik. Check the selected operator, terminal and current border conditions. The Dubrovnik route details summarises dated ticket examples. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
  6. Day 6 · Dubrovnik. No Bosnia intercity leg is assumed. Plan local transport independently.
  7. Day 7 · Dubrovnik onward. Arrange a separate departure based on your next destination; do not rely on a same-day bus connection unless its ticket and timing suit your plans.

Bosnia-only alternative: Keep all seven nights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding an extra Sarajevo night and a flexible Mostar/Blagaj day. Confirm any additional destination's service separately rather than assuming a bus is available.

Departure times and connections are deliberately omitted here because they depend on the date and current timetable. A separate bus or ferry booking is not a protected through-ticket.

Practical answers

Bus, airport and connection questions

Start with the city, exact station label and service date shown on your ticket.

Which Sarajevo bus station do I need?

Use the full terminal printed on your ticket. Sarajevo Central at Put života 8 and East Sarajevo in Lukavica are separate locations. Check the station directory before arranging a local transfer.

Does Sarajevo–Belgrade depart from East Sarajevo?

Many listed Sarajevo–Belgrade products use East Sarajevo, while route listings can also show central departures. The city name alone is not enough: use the departure station on your final ticket. See the route details.

Can I use a digital bus ticket?

Ticket rules depend on carrier and seller. Follow the boarding instructions on the issued ticket; a booking confirmation may need printing or exchange. Read the ticket-format information.

Are baggage fees included?

Not universally. Allowance and handling charges vary by operator and fare. Check the booking terms and ask the carrier about checked luggage. See baggage guidance.

Are buses available between Sarajevo and Kotor?

Centrotrans’s 2026 summer daytime service included Kotor; its night itinerary did not. The selected date showed no direct service. Ask the operator whether a direct daytime bus runs during your travel season. Read the Kotor route details.

Is Sarajevo–Mostar better by bus or train?

It depends on the departure time, station, price and service operating on your date. Compare the current bus listing with ŽFBH's current train timetable; do not rely on an old schedule. Compare bus and train.

How do I reach Blagaj without a car?

Mostar Bus lists local Lines 10 and 12 toward Blagaj and Malo Polje. The timetable varies by line and day; its Sunday service was announced for a limited summer period in 2026. See the Blagaj route details and Mostar Bus timetable.

Does the Sarajevo Airport bus go to Sarajevo Central Bus Station?

The Centrotrans Airport–Bentbaša service goes toward the city centre; it is not described as serving every intercity terminal. Plan a separate transfer to Sarajevo Central or East Sarajevo. See airport transport details.

Is Mostar Airport's shuttle included with flights?

J.P. Mostar Bus charges 10 KM for its flight-linked shuttle; the fare is separate from the airline ticket. See stops and flight details.

How does the Banja Luka Airport shuttle work?

Smiljić Company operates a 12 KM service timed to aircraft arrivals and departures, connecting the airport, city centre and new bus station. Confirm the specific pickup and timing with the operator. Airport shuttle details.

Can I reach Tuzla Airport using an intercity ticket to Tuzla?

No. A Sarajevo–Tuzla coach ticket ends at the city station and does not include airport pickup. A separate city–airport bus was announced by the Tourist Board; its timetable is issued through the city transport system. The airport is outside Tuzla city, and no direct airport–Sarajevo coach is listed. Read transfer options.

Can I connect from a Mostar–Split bus to a ferry the same day?

It may be possible on a specific date, but separate tickets are not protected and a border delay can cause a missed sailing. Compare the bus arrival, ferry boarding cutoff and your tolerance for risk; there is no universal safe connection time. See the Split ferry connection note.

What documents are needed for international bus journeys?

Requirements depend on nationality, residence status and destination. Check current official entry rules for every country on your route and carry the original accepted document. A ticket does not guarantee entry. Read the border information.

Can I book local buses online?

Do not assume so. Mostar Bus Lines 10/12 to Blagaj and Line 48 to Međugorje are local services; use the operator's information, not an unrelated intercity affiliate link. Blagaj local transport · Međugorje local bus.

What is the difference between Mostar East and Mostar West?

They are separate bus terminals in different locations. Some tickets name Mostar East, but not every service uses it. Follow the full arrival or departure station on your ticket. Compare Mostar terminals.

Bus luggage: what is included and what costs extra?

Allowance and handling costs differ between operators and tickets. A small carry-on, checked suitcase, bicycle or bulky item may have separate rules.

Centrotrans Sarajevo says one luggage item is usually included on many journeys; additional pieces may be charged under its applicable price list. It advises passengers to contact the company about bicycles or scooters, and notes musical instruments depend on luggage-compartment capacity. This is not a guaranteed allowance for every fare.

Centrotrans a.d. Istočno Sarajevo publishes different rules: 1 KM for a bag and 2 KM for a sack/large bag under its stated classifications; small hand luggage may be carried in the passenger area only under specified conditions. Those charges belong to that operator’s rulebook and should not be applied to Centrotrans Sarajevo or other companies.

For the operator-specific figures and ticket formats, use the combined ticket and luggage comparison. Centrotrans Sarajevo refers to its own price list for extra pieces; Centrotrans a.d. Istočno Sarajevo lists its separate 1 KM and 2 KM categories. Mostar Bus’ Line 48 timetable does not publish baggage rules. Other carriers’ baggage allowances and fees are set by the selected product.

Station or platform charges are separate from baggage fees. Keep any baggage tag or receipt until collection. Ask the carrier before bringing a bicycle, pet, instrument or bulky item.

Boarding points, clearly identified

Four bus stations in Bosnia: names and addresses

A city name alone is not a boarding instruction. Match the complete station label on your ticket to the correct terminal before arranging your local transfer.

SARAJEVO · CENTRAL

Autobuska stanica Sarajevo

Address: Put života 8, Sarajevo 71000. The Canton Sarajevo authority records the address; Centrotrans lists station information at +387 33 213 100. A booking labelled Sarajevo Central or Sarajevo Bus Station should be checked against this full address and its map pin. The station operator says regular tram services connect from Baščaršija and Ilidža; check current city transport details before setting out.

This is the main intercity terminal associated with Sarajevo Central. Use the operator's own boarding instructions for your departure and confirm the platform at the terminal. The station sources cited here do not publish platform assignments or a full facilities list.

SARAJEVO · EAST

Autobuska stanica Istočno Sarajevo

Address: Srpskih vladara 2, 71123 Lukavica / Istočno Sarajevo. FlixBus lists this as its Istocno Sarajevo stop; Visit Sarajevo publishes the station information number +387 57 317 377.

It is a separate terminal from Sarajevo Central, not a second platform in the same building. FlixBus names this stop in its Sarajevo network; other bus listings show services toward Trebinje, Bijeljina, Banja Luka, Belgrade, Novi Sad and Herceg Novi. Confirm that your own ticket identifies this station. The journey into Sarajevo centre depends on your arrival time and choice of local transport, so check the connection before you travel.

MOSTAR · EAST

Autobuska stanica Mostar Istok

Address: Trg Ivana Krndelja 4 (also listed as Trg Ivana Krndelja bb), Mostar. This terminal is beside Mostar's railway station. The address form varies between sources; ticket and operator listings may show “Mostar East Bus Station.”

Some tickets list Mostar East, and Globtour lists departures from that terminal. Other services may use Mostar West. Your ticket identifies the station for your departure.

MOSTAR · WEST

Autobusni kolodvor Mostar Zapad

Address: Vukovarska bb, Mostar. This is a separate west-side bus terminal and should not be treated as another name for the railway-side Mostar East station.

The address is documented, but operator-by-operator station assignments and a complete facilities list are not available here. Your ticket identifies the terminal; contact the carrier if it says only “Mostar.”

Two cities, four different terminals

Sarajevo Central and East Sarajevo are not interchangeable

A ticket labelled Sarajevo may point to either terminal in the wider urban area. The stations are not separate platforms in one building. A last-minute station change can mean a cross-city transfer, so check the street address before you leave.

Mostar East and West are separate too

East is associated with the railway-station area; West is on Vukovarska. Follow the exact terminal on the ticket instead of choosing by city name or accommodation location.

After the coach arrives

Dubrovnik Bus Station: Arrival in Gruž

The main bus terminal is at Obala pape Ivana Pavla II 44A in Gruž. It is a transport district, not the Old Town, so plan the last leg to your accommodation separately.

From the terminal to your stay

Libertas Dubrovnik runs the local network. Use its current timetable or ask staff for a route based on your destination; route numbers can change during works. Taxis are available as another option, but confirm the fare directly. We do not quote a fixed taxi price or walking time.

If you are joining an airport, ferry or another coach, check its actual departure location and leave time between separate bookings. Border and road delays can push the bus arrival later than the printed schedule.

International travel by coach

Crossing the Bosnia–Croatia Border by Bus

A bus journey between Bosnia and Croatia crosses an international border. Croatia is in the Schengen Area; Bosnia and Herzegovina is not. Carry documents appropriate to your citizenship and the countries you are entering.

Documents and entry conditions

Before travel, check the Croatian and Schengen entry rules that apply to your nationality, residence status and trip. Some travellers need a visa or other permission; others do not. A paid bus ticket is a transport contract, not permission to enter a country. Border officers make the entry decision.

Keep your passport or other document accepted for your specific journey accessible. Do not rely on a photo or a booking confirmation as a substitute for the required travel document. Travellers with visas, residence permits, dual nationality or special status should check the official rules for the document they will use at the border.

European Union travel and border information

Checks, EES and arrival margin

Passengers may be asked to present documents during border checks and to follow instructions from the driver and border officials. The Entry/Exit System (EES) has been fully operational at Schengen external borders since 10 April 2026. The EU says it records entry, exit or refusal data for covered non-EU short-stay travellers, including travel-document and biometric data, subject to listed exemptions.

There is no reliable fixed waiting time for a particular coach departure. Queue length, traffic, checks and operational conditions change. Avoid tight onward connections on a separate ticket; the bus timetable cannot guarantee the actual arrival time.

Do not assume every bus uses one border crossing. The operator and route may vary. Check the actual itinerary with the carrier and official border authorities when the crossing point matters to your plan.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

How long is the bus from Sarajevo to Mostar?

Several Sarajevo–Mostar buses are scheduled for about 2 hours 25 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes. Your selected departure shows its planned duration.

Which Sarajevo bus station should I use?

Use the exact station listed on your ticket. Sarajevo Central and the East Sarajevo terminal are separate locations.

Do Sarajevo–Mostar trains run?

ŽFBH announced that regular passenger services resumed on 15 October 2026. Check the official timetable and current notices for your travel date.

Can I board with a mobile ticket?

Ticket formats differ by service. A passenger review of one Autoprevoz Mostar departure reported that a printed ticket was required; this is not an official blanket policy. Follow the instructions on your own booking.

Are luggage fees included in the ticket price?

It depends on the operator and ticket. Check the baggage allowance and any charge shown in the specific booking terms.

Dubrovnik route questions

Cross-border bus questions

Does the Sarajevo–Dubrovnik bus run every day?

Centrotrans describes its Sarajevo–Dubrovnik service as daily and year-round. Other operators may use different schedules. Choose your date to see the departures available from each carrier.

Does every Mostar–Dubrovnik bus leave from Mostar East?

Departures may use different stations. Mostar East and West are separate terminals; use the station named on your ticket. Some listings name Mostar East.

Is Dubrovnik Bus Station in the Old Town?

No. The main intercity terminal is in Gruž at Obala pape Ivana Pavla II 44A. Plan local transport onward to accommodation near the Old Town.

Will my bus arrive on time after the border crossing?

The timetable gives a scheduled arrival, not a guarantee. Border processing and road conditions can delay the bus. Avoid a tight connection on a separate ticket.

Does the EU Entry/Exit System affect every passenger?

No. EES applies to covered non-EU nationals on short stays, with exemptions. The European Commission’s current guidance explains how it applies to your status and travel document.
